St Patrick’s Day & Other Upcoming Events / News

Last weekend was fantastic for Gaelic football in Shanghai with the very successful running of our Nations Cup and so many new people trying our great sport.  Congratulations to the winning teams, Ireland (Ladies) and England (Men’s) captained by Catriona Scanlon and Chris Meehan respectively.  Many thanks to the many members who played and especially to those who helped with the organisation.  We have had great feedback from our guests and it’s important we encourage as many as possible to come and join our training! If you have any suggestions regarding future Nations’ Cups please forward to Brian Murray at briwins@msn.com.

The entire Irish Community and friends will gather to celebrate our national holiday with pride. The programme includes performances from Fling and Boxty Rebellion and dancing from Celtic Storm. We’re the only community allowed to celebrate it’s national holiday with a public event here in Shanghai so please come out and support it! The club will also be giving a demonstration of gaelic football skills and encouraging the locals to give it a try. This was well received last year and gave the club excellent PR, so those willing to assist, please let Peter Mooney know asap at mooneypeter@hotmail.com, and arrive in your club jersey. Please also find attached a St Patrick’s message from President Michael D Higgins.
